Chief Quality Officer

El Camino Health (ECH) in Mountain View, California seeks a physician leader who is passionate about quality, patient safety and enhancement of the patient experience, to serve as its inaugural Chief Quality Officer (CQO). S/he will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring systems of care, decreasing clinical variation, creating a high reliability organization focused on safety and exceptional patient outcomes, and using data to provide information to improve, monitor and measure results. The CQO will report to the Chief Executive Officer, and work in close partnership with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer, and other nurse and physician leaders, in driving high reliability in quality and safety across the enterprise. In addition, the CQO will be a member of the senior leadership team. If successful, the incumbent will be considered as the successor to the CMO.

Long known for its exceptional clinical programs, in 2018, ECH was awarded U.S. News & World Report's highest rating in urology, aortic valve surgery, COPD, colon cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, and knee replacement surgery. ECH is a CMS Five-Star hospital and is dedicated to delivering high quality patient care provided in a safe environment, striving for zero harm. Based in Silicon Valley, El Camino Health is a nonprofit, locally governed health organization, comprised of two hospitals in Mountain View and Los Gatos with 443 total licensed beds including separate women's and behavioral health hospitals, El Camino Hospital Foundation (established for fund raising purposes), El Camino Surgery Center and the El Camino Health Medical Network (established as an MSO to provide management services to approximately 100 physicians that are part of El Camino Medical Associates and San Jose Medical Group, and now includes 12 clinic sites including four urgent care centers).

The successful candidate will be a physician with a proven track record of improving quality and patient safety and will have intimate knowledge and training in process improvement, change management, patient experience, paired with a familiarity of clinical information systems and analytics. A Doctor of Medicine degree is required and a completion of a postgraduate medical education in an ACGME approved residency program with current Board Certification. An advanced degree in healthcare management, the study of quality or a business related field is desired, but not required.
