CAHQ - President's Message

INCOMING PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

One year ago, California Association for Healthcare Quality (CAHQ) Past President Val Emery published her incoming message. She spoke of a “dream for transparency and patient safety” in our quality movement. During 2010, the Board of Directors, along with the dedicated volunteer committee members worked to make that dream grow.

This is the dream that CAHQ continues today. In a time of economic crisis, increasing regulatory requirements, additional surveys and a push for greater transparency across the healthcare continuum, we face many challenges. Our goal at CAHQ is to provide you with the tools to meet them.

To that end, and in response to numerous member requests, we continue to add new webinars and workshops to the CAHQ program. Since many of your organizations will be evaluated soon with a new Patient Safety Licensing Survey, we encourage you attend the Provider’s Perspective Patient Safety Licensing Survey webinar that has been added to our calendar of events for September 2011.

I am also excited to announce that we have confirmed the 2012 CAHQ Spring Conference, which will be held at the California Endowment Center on Tuesday, March 20th. Please join us at this remarkable facility and take advantage of the opportunity to network with other local healthcare professionals.

I hope to see you at the September 2011 NAHQ National Conference, and invite you to join our members in representing California at this national event. CAHQ will also be hosting a membership reception for our members. This event will be another great opportunity to network and meet the CAHQ Board of Directors. We will provide additional details prior to the conference, so be sure to check our website regularly for information.

In an effort to improve our accessibility to our members, CAHQ is currently developing a Social Media network. This network is being designed specifically for you: the healthcare professional on the frontlines every day, advocating for patient safety and helping us achieve the goal of transparency in quality. We hope that by providing an open forum for our members, it will allow you to more efficiently network, share best practices, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals. More information about the Social media network will be available later this year.
