All submissions undergo peer-review. Please carefully read the following instructions to ensure your request undergoes consideration. Topics could include, but are not limited to (these are to help get your creative juices flowing): Performance Improvement Pay for Performance Innovative Strategies and Outcomes related to Healthcare Quality Mobilizing Staff Quality Measures & Quality Goals Direct or Indirect Outcomes CMS & Regulatory Issues Organizational Excellence Evidence-based excellence Cultural Competence in Quality Healthcare Quality Considerations in the Rural Setting Quality Improvement Tools Discharge Planning Medication & Pharmacy Quality issues. Quality Issues in Telemedicine Electronic considerations (Informatics) Emerging Technologies Data Management & Analysis Legal Issues Patient Safety Risk Management Quality Initiatives The “Never” Events Process Improvement Biosurvelliance Quality in Preventive Care Useful Research Methodologies Best Practices Patient Education/Involvement Another Great Idea You Have! Each Oral Presentation Submission must include: An abstract typed in Microsoft Word 400 word limitation Arial or Times New Roman 12 point font 1 inch margins No charts or tables A maximum of three educational objectives (Educational objectives DO NOT count in the abstract text word count). Each presenter must provide with the submission: Biographical information including credentials and educational background on a separate sheet from the abstract Upon Acceptance of the Abstract for Presentation the following items are also required: A signed audiotape permission form (Speaker Release) Disclosure Statement (Vested Interest) All required statements and releases are to be submitted prior to January 1, 2009. Upon acceptance of the abstract for presentation, a copy of slide presentations and handouts are to be submitted by February 28, 2009, for inclusion in the conference program materials. All submissions must be sent by attachment via e-mail to: presentationsubmission@cahq.org Presenters may NOT use a presentation as an opportunity to spotlight a company, product, or service. Submission of an abstract implies a commitment to make the presentation at the annual meeting. All authors will be notified via email of abstract status by October 10, 2008. Please make sure your email address is correct. You will also receive all required releases and statements. Presentations follow a 45 - 50 minute format that includes 5 - 10 minutes of audience discussion. CAHQ will provide $100 discount on full conference registration for one presenting author for the day of the presentation. If there is more than one author, the presenting author should be listed as first presenter on the author/presenter page. The presenter(s) should register and pay for the conference prior to February 28, 2009. Abstracts will undergo blind peer review by the Education Committee (& assigned specialists as needed). Evaluation criteria: (1) quality and originality; (2) potential significance to quality management; quality issues in health facilities, and patient safety in health facilities; (3) timeliness; (4) clarity of writing and presentation; and (5) relevance to theme.
